Customers join the line from their phone — by scanning the QR code at your door, or tapping the link in your Instagram bio or on your website before they've even left home. They get a text when it's their turn, and your team never stops mid-service to take a name.

Five screens, one live line. Here's exactly what each one does.

  • Customer phone
  • TV display
  • Door tablet
  • Staff screen
  • Owner dashboard

Their phone is the waiting room

  • Joins with a name and, for texts, a mobile number — optional.
  • Their exact place in line, updating live as it moves.
  • Today's hours on the join page, and when you're closed, when you open next.
  • An honest estimate, built from how fast your team is actually moving today, not a guess.
  • Texts only if they opt in: a confirmation with a link back to their spot, and "you're up". Any extra texts are ones you choose to turn on.
  • Who's ready for them, with a photo, the moment they're called.
  • Running late? They tell you in one tap: 2, 5 or 10 minutes away, or that they can't make it.
  • Leaves the line anytime, right from their phone.
  • Mobile numbers are deleted automatically 24 hours after they join.

One TV, no guesswork at the counter

  • Now calling, in letters big enough to read from across the room, with a big headshot of who's ready for them: "Jordan, you're up. Chris is ready for you."
  • A slow, flowing gradient in your brand color while someone's being called, so the room notices without a buzzer.
  • Up next, by first name and last initial only, each with their own estimate ("~12 min") and the current wait, updated as the line moves.
  • Local weather if you'd like it: now, the next few hours and tomorrow, from the National Weather Service (US locations).
  • A QR code so anyone walking by can join without a trip to the counter.
  • Runs in a browser: any smart TV, or a streaming stick if yours isn't smart yet.

A tablet at the door, for walk-ins without a phone

  • One clear button: join the line.
  • Asks for a name, and a mobile number only if they want texts.
  • Shows how many are waiting and the current estimate before they commit.
  • Runs in kiosk mode on any tablet you already own — no special hardware.

Customers pick their services as they join

  • Services and add-ons, chosen on their phone or the door tablet, from the menu you set up.
  • The time and price add up as they choose, so nobody's surprised at the counter.
  • If they ask for someone, the form only offers team members who do what they picked.
  • Per location: off, optional or required, with a limit per visit, and prices and times shown or hidden.
  • Your team sees the services on each person's row, and can change them.

Your service menu, and waits that know it

  • Start from suggested services for your trade, and rename, retime or reprice them before you add them.
  • Categories and add-ons, with prices and times per location, and which of your team does which service.
  • Import or export a spreadsheet (CSV). You see every change before anything is saved.
  • Smarter wait estimates: each location uses the average visit time, or each customer's services plus how long current visits have been going.
  • Service photos, cropped right in the browser.

Everything your team needs, one tap at a time

  • Call the next person, start their visit, finish it, or mark a no-show.
  • A live timer on every name, in minutes and seconds, that turns amber at 15 minutes and red at 30.
  • Call again if they don't come up, with a short cooldown so nobody's called twice by accident.
  • Tap to call the number they gave, right from their row.
  • Their services at a glance, with the total time and when the current visit should wrap up.
  • Put someone back in their spot, or close the line to new walk-ins, whenever you like.
  • The team signs in with the location's PIN; owners and managers use their account.

“Are you still coming?” Answered in one tap

  • Called someone who hasn't come up? Tap "Ask if they're coming" on the staff screen.
  • Their phone asks them right away, and they answer: 2, 5 or 10 minutes away, or sorry, they can't make it.
  • The answer shows on their row, so you know whether to wait or call the next person.
  • Customers who are running late can tell you without being asked.
  • You can ask the same person again after two minutes, never in a burst.

Spot the right person in a busy room

  • Customers can add a photo from their phone, when they join or from their spot in line. It's optional, and you choose which locations offer it.
  • A selfie or one from their photos, cropped in a round frame right on their phone.
  • Only your staff see it. Never on the TV, the join page, the door tablet or to other customers.
  • Deleted automatically when the visit ends, and your team can take one down at any time.

Put a face to the name

  • Add your team with headshots, per location, and mark who's working today.
  • "Chris is ready for you" on the TV and on the customer's phone, with Chris's photo, so they know exactly who to walk up to.
  • On the staff screen, each person taps their own photo to call their next customer.
  • The wait estimate counts whoever is working today, so nobody has to update a number when someone calls in sick.

Let customers choose who serves them

  • Regulars can ask for their favorite stylist, tech or groomer right on the join form, on their phone or the door tablet.
  • "Anyone" comes first, so people who just want the next opening still get it.
  • The TV shows who each person is waiting for, and their phone shows it too — no awkward surprises at the counter.
  • Turn it on per location. Leave it off where anyone can take anyone.

Opening hours that close the line for you

  • Set weekly hours for each location, in its own time zone.
  • Stop taking walk-ins before closing — 20 minutes by default, or whatever lead time fits your longest visit. No more "sorry, we're closing" at the door.
  • Optionally open the line by itself in the morning.
  • Today's hours on the join page. When you're closed, customers see when you open next instead of a dead end.

Connect a TV in about ten seconds

  • Open app.nextupwalkin.com/tv in the TV's browser. It shows a short code.
  • Type the code into Connect a TV on your dashboard, from your phone or any computer. The TV switches to your waiting-room screen on its own.
  • The TV remembers which location it shows, so you set it up once.
  • No passwords typed with a remote. Codes expire after 15 minutes and work once.

Your brand, down to the lettering

  • 27 heading fonts, from clean and modern to elegant serif, script, vintage, blackletter and playful — plus six easy-to-read text fonts.
  • Your colors, picked from a color wheel, with a readability check that fixes low-contrast text in one tap.
  • 14 ready-made themes and your logo, with a live preview of every screen.
  • Crop, zoom and straighten your logo, team headshots and service photos right in the browser. No photo editor needed.
  • The same look on the join page, their phone, the door tablet and the TV.
